Before-the-Deadline Chat: Magic

The deadline is fast approaching, and is a little more than 24 hours away. Many deals are on the table...and as the Washington Post reports: The NBA Trade Deadline could be a very active one.

According to the New York Daily News reports that the Magic, Spurs, Cavaliers and Rockets all have interest in trading for Seattle's Kurt Thomas. Orlando is the favorite because of the expiring contracts we have to offer.

Seattle sure is not going anywhere near the playoffs soon so their best bet is to acquire expiring contracts, which we can offer more option to them.

The Spurs wouldn't give up much valuable, Cavs don't even have much to give. The Rockets interest is probably nothing solid because they have big men in Motumbo, Hayes, Scola. While the Rockets could use another big man, they do not have any attractive expirings to give up.

Getting another big man would help us tremendously with the matchups with other teams, but it will help even more in creating matchup problems for our opponents. We could finally move Rashard Lewis back to the small forward position and Hedo to the shooting guard spot. That would make more open shots for Hedo and Rashard, and ease the rebounding load off of the rest of the team. Another important reason in getting another big man is to help defend the dominant centers and power forwards that we will have to face in the playoffs.
