Heading into the home stretch, the Magic need to keep thier division lead against the battle-tested Wizards, with Arenas and Butler returning. The Atlanta Hawks are 10 games behind us and reeling after losing 4 straight heading into the break. They did aquire Bibby recently, but that doesnt improve their chances to do much this season. Bibby is 'nothing special' acquisition that probably won't do much for them even in the future. While Miami and Charlotte don't have a season to speak of at this point.
The Magic are currently only 4 games ahead of Toronto and Cleveland. A small, few game skid could send us tumbling in the standings. The higher up we are in the standings the better off we will be in the playoffs, hoping to match up with a "weak" opponent.
If the playoffs started today we would open up with a series against the Washinton Wizards. A healthy Arenas in the playoffs is nightmare for the Magic and their exceptionally talented defensive guards. Not. We would get eaten alive for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maybe Dooling could help out on Arenas but that wouldn't be much of a deterrant for him. Butler and Jamison would be matched up with Turk and Lewis, creating a pretty even matchup. Howard would dominate inside and on the boards, most likely leading to the Magic moving on to the second round.
We are 7-3 in our last ten games, and seem to be picking up steam again after going an average 17-17, in our previous thirty-four games, after the 16-4 start.
